The flagship of the Godin Signature series takes all of the features of the LG Signature and adds two voices to create a three-voice masterpiece. The custom RMC system provides acoustic guitar sound and 13-pin output for synth/computer access. The result--sonic potential that is sure to spark your imagination in a seriously handsome guitar.
The body of the LGX-SA is made from a blend of two tonewoods--a mahogany body capped with a figured maple carved top. The flamed maple adds focus to the mahogany tone, and of course it looks great in a transparent finish.
Honduras Mahogany has a long history as the tonewood of choice for acoustic guitar necks. The same properties that give mahogany its appeal in an acoustic guitar--namely a warm harmonically rich sound--have a similar effect in a solid body electric guitar.
The ebony fingerboard on the LGX-SA not only contributes to a more focused sound, but also helps to optimize the guitar's synth tracking capabilities.
The angle of the neck attachment--called pitch--has a huge impact on sound. A slight tilt forward will cause the guitar to sound boomy, a slight tilt backwards can make the guitar sound tinny. Equally important is the fit of the neck into the body. Godin guitars are renowned for tight-fitting neck attachments that support excellent neck/body energy transfer and precise neck pitch.
Every Godin neck features an Ergocut shaping technique which bevels the edges of the fingerboard and frets back in towards the center of the fingerboard, providing an extremely comfortable worn-in feel.
The precision Tusq nut is made with Graph Tech's "man made ivory," which couples the strings' vibrations to the neck and is impregnated with Teflon to improve the tuning performance of your guitar. Play as hard as you want, bend a few steps, and your strings glide back into tune. The highly resonant material also means you'll get crystal-clear, bell-like high end, big open lows, and an overall sustain increase.
The LGX-SA delivers electric sounds via 2 Seymour Duncan humbucker pick-ups (SH II jazz in the neck and a Custom III in the bridge) thanks to a special 5-way switch set-up, extra meaty humbucker tones co-exist with glassy single coil sounds in the second and forth position.
Turn down the electric volume and raise the volume on the transducer saddles and the LGX-SA becomes an incredibly authentic-sounding 'acoustic' guitar. The acoustic voice of the LGX-SA is enhanced by an onboard preamp with a three-way graphic EQ. The two outputs are set up so that the electric and acoustic voices can be blended in the guitar using a single patch cord or at the amp/mixer using both outputs.
The third voice on the LGX-SA comes in the form of its synth tracking, which simply put, is the best in the business. As with all of Godin synth-ready instruments, a built-in 13-pin connector provides direct access to all Roland GR-Series synths as well as most other 13-pin devices.
Godin 5th Avenue CW Electric Guitar (Kingpin II, Black) Review
The 5th Avenue CW Kingpin is Godin's take on the archtop jazz-style acoustic, complete with classic looks: Canadian cherry in a black finish, a floating pickgaurd and cream binding, and the requisite F-holes. But with modern touches like a pair of P90s, a deep cutaway, and a height-adjustable Tusq bridge by Graphtech, it lets you keep one foot in the past and the other firmly in the present.
The Godin 5th Avenue brings you back to a time when the archtop acoustic guitar reigned supreme. With the soul of a 1950's archtop, the 5th Avenue is a true vintage spirit of yesterday with today's level of modern playability. Made from Canadian Wild Cherry, the body of the 5th Avenue features a molded arched top and back, as well as classic f-holes, a contoured high-gloss headstock, floating pickguard and cream binding. Also, the rustic beauty of its Custom Polished Finish creates a gorgeous satin sheen, reminiscent of the French polish of the 19th century.
