Godin Exit 22 Solid Body Electric Guitar (Natural Mahogany RN)

Godin Exit 22 Solid Body Electric Guitar (Natural Mahogany RN) Review

Godin Exit 22 Solid Body Electric Guitar (Natural Mahogany RN) Feature

  • Rock maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays
  • Two Godin GS1 single-coils and GHB1 humbucker with five-way switch, tone, and volume
  • Fixed Godin bridge and Graphteq Tusq nut
  • Godin high-ratio sealed tuners
  • Solid mahogany body with natural finish

Godin's Exit 22 features a solid mahogany body and a rock maple neck, and was the first Godin guitar to combine a 24 3/4-inch scale with Godin's new 22-fret neck, a combination that delivers in both the comfort and sound departments. Monstrous distortion tones are easily dialed in via the Godin humbucker in the bridge, and stinging clean sounds are also at your fingertips, thanks to the Godin single-coil pickups in the neck and middle position. The Exit 22 is finished with a semi-gloss finish that gives it a beautiful understated look.

Godin Exit 22

Mahogany Body

The Exit 22's natural mahogany finish looks great, to be sure. Of course it's a classic body wood, delivering a warm, harmonically rich sound to match those good looks.

Rock Maple Neck With Rosewood Fingerboard

There are many grades of maple available out there. "Rock maple" is the term often used to describe a particularly hard variety of the wood that grows in colder climates. Rock maple necks produce excellent sustain, stability and feel, and pair up equally well with Rosewood and Maple fingerboards.

The Exit 22's rosewood fingerboard further emphasizes the neck's mid-range, producing a more aggressive sound. The "22" stands for 22 frets, of course. The fingerboard features classic dot inlays.

Neck Fit/Pitch

The angle of the neck attachment--called pitch--has a huge impact on sound. A slight tilt forward will cause the guitar to sound boomy, a slight tilt backwards can make the guitar sound tinny. Equally important is the fit of the neck into the body. Godin guitars are renowned for tight-fitting neck attachments that support excellent neck/body energy transfer and precise neck pitch.

Godin Ergocut

Every Godin neck features an Ergocut shaping technique which bevels the edges of the fingerboard and frets back in towards the center of the fingerboard, providing an extremely comfortable worn-in feel.

Godin Pickups

The SD is loaded with one Godin GHB1 Humbucker and two Godin GS1 Single coil pickups, along with a five-way switch for maximum sonic power. The pickups share a volume and tone control.

Godin pickups are designed to be dynamic, responsive and transparent. Whether you play lightning fast country licks or big fat power chords, you'll appreciate the versatility of these pickups.

Graph Tech "Tusq" Nut

The precision Tusq nut is made with Graph Tech's "man made ivory," which couples the strings' vibrations to the neck and is impregnated with Teflon to improve the tuning performance of your guitar. Play as hard as you want, bend a few steps, and your strings glide back into tune. The highly resonant material also means you'll get crystal-clear, bell-like high end, big open lows, and an overall sustain increase.
